Diving into a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have found numerous engaging creations from small studios. But, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure includes a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop trying to navigate to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: you only need a jump control. Throughout numerous challenges, you'll face boss fights and visit a store to purchase customizations for your poop character.

Execute your jumps carefully, since one mistake forces restarting the level. Jump using bubbles to hurl yourself higher, traverse fragile surfaces, and interact with buttons to unlock new areas. Earn currency to purchase tougher game content where gameplay gets crazy.

Visually, the demo shows off vibrant level designs and a killer music score. Its minimalist visual style of shifting basic polygons could recall fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although tough to recall previous releases where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment frequently featured scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from protagonist droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as plant food. And of course, such content is present a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, such as taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible at present on Steam, with the full game scheduled to arrive on PC on November 19.
